Every so often, some asshole comes along and says that guitar music is dead/dying… and then a band comes along that makes said asshole seem like even more of an asshole. “Peace” is one of those bands. Their most recent release, “EP Delicious”, is a bold and sophisticated affirmation of the continued awesomeness of guitar driven rock and roll. Although it’s only four tunes, the EP is packed with a huge range of tastefully manipulated guitar licks, smooth and ghostly vocal production, and groovy bass and drums all housed inside of clever songs with novel arrangements. The vibe of the EP is all over the place - starting out slightly dark and psychedelic with the opening track, “Ocean’s Eye”, moving seamlessly to a more poppy feel in the second track, “Blood Shake”, followed by a laid back love song, “California Daze” about a girl who “tastes like sunlight,” and then finally makes a full circle exploding back into psychedelia with the EP’s finale, “1998 (Delicious)”. Definitely check these guys out if you still believe in rock and roll!
